So Long Funny Man!

Yesterday saw the death of one of my favorite comedians, Greg Giraldo. His album, " A Good Day to Cross a River", is up there with the best of them. It's in your face shit talking, yet behind the coarse language there was obviously an intellect that can hang with the best of them, which would explain the B.A. from Columbia and a J.D. from Harvard. You wouldn't know him from a bum if you saw him on the street, but man was he funny.

"Some people say the internet is ruining families, I wouldn't say internet porn ruined my marriage but it destroyed my keyboard"

"Larry the Cable guy fucked his first cousin when he was 16.....................................................................
..........................and his last one about an hour ago"

RIP Funny Man

The Right, the wrong.

Have we given up as a society in caring about truth?

In a recent Rolling Stone article, President Obama gave the music magazine a description of his Ipod playlist. Obama mentioned that his ipod was dominated by Stevie Wonder, Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan. He mentions even having Maria Callas on it. As an aside he mentions his assistant Reggie Love broadening his taste in rap music and mentioned having a few songs by Nas and Lil Wayne. How do the douchebags at Fox News respond, they headline an article, "President of the United States Loves Gangsta Rap". Nowhere in the article did Obama mention loving rap, gangsta rap, Lil Wayne or Nas. He said he had a few songs on his ipod by them. He mentioned his taste in rap had previously been mostly Jay-Z, someone whose music at this point would hardly be described as gangsta. Unless gangsta means spending every line mentioning that your rich, your successful in business and how you're too old to be "gangsta."

At this point Fox News has ceased to be a right leaning news organization and has become a 24 hour Republican, and not the George Will kind, advertisement. The only attempt at "Fair and Balanced" is the moniker in their logo. They've given up trying to spin news to the right and now just make up the news, most often to slander Obama, Democrats, Mexicans, minorites and anything the Tea Party doesn't like. They've made mountains out of mole hills on such non-stories as the New Black Panther Party, ACORN, Van Jones, Death Panels, the Bearded Socialist and the Tea Party.

What we need from this administration is a full fledged effort to rebut this mess and to take back the message from the lunatic right, kill the counter-punching and take initiative. Take the fight to the right and remind America why we voted Obama into the office in the first place. Eight years of Bush and six years of a loving congress ran this country straight into the ground, to pretend otherwise is to be deaf, dumb, blind, a Glen Beck fan and probably a card carrying member of the Tea Party.
